Marilyn draws on a diverse background as an artist, dancer and
educator. She enjoys teaching, especially providing a safe,
comfortable place for others to explore their own creativity and
movement. Marilyn has been practicing yoga for over 25 years, since
she took her first class with an Indian Studies professor in college
as a gym option. She was certified as an instructor in 2006, after
training in Ashtanga Flow at the Yandara Yoga Institute, and has
continued her studies with teachers including Desiree Rumbaugh, Mimi
Louriero of O2 Yoga, Jonas Westring and Seane Corn. She is
particularly interested in the biomechanics of yoga, how preparation
and body alignment before moving into a pose allow the body to
express that pose more fully. “Yoga has helped me understand the
mechanics of my own body better, to feel more grounded and
connected, and to slow down.” Marilyn approaches yoga teaching with
a gentle style and a sense of humor, inspired by the Happy Buddha,
arms in the air and broadly smiling, lighthearted and playful.
