The practice of yoga has been shown to produce positive motivational change by helping women regain their vital center of energy, satisfaction and stability. Our objective is teach veterans how to use breath awareness, meditation and yoga to manage their symptoms of PTSD, to improve their relationships with loved ones, to begin to fully participate in their lives, and to give back to their fellow veterans through TABA’s Train the Trainer program. Yoga Gives Back: Non pro-fit organization. Our mission is two-fold. First, we send our funds to support impoverished women in India. Inspired by Nobel Peace Prize Recipient Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ revolutionary micro financing break-through, Yoga Gives Back supports micro credit programs in India which lend small loans to women in particular, who have no access to capital. Additionally, we developed “Sister Aid” programs where YGB donation directly funds education, vocational training and micro credit programs for struggling mothers, girls and orphans. Education and economic independence are the key foundation to build sustainable livelihoods.
Second, by reaching out to yoga studios, we build awareness via our fundraising classes and events. Studio by studio, we share the reality of our struggling sisters and invite the global yoga community to join in our campaign to help alleviate poverty in In-dia. Six billion dollars is spent on yoga in the U.S. alone each year. If a fraction of this can help the poor in India, we can make a difference, we can effect change.
